How clothing and jewelry reflect one persons social status?
The jewellery and fashion back in Ancient China was all about how powerful you were. There were 6 groups, each group the standard went lower.
Emperor: The newest silk, the best clothes and jewellery. No such thing as to many clothes.
Government Officials: Silk robes and Horseman pants underneath.
Nobles: Would wear as much jewellery as possible, wear very colourful robes and fancy hats.
Peasants: Very old robes made out of rag, yet liveable.
Merchant: Wore loose pants and shirt usually a little hat.
Slaves: Wore hemp which was a rough material yet was perfect for labour. Usually made into loose pants and shirt.
